Roger: I just received your book of Haikus in the mail from a couple we met recently while on a kayak trip to Baja. They live in Baltimore, while my wife and I live in the higher foothills of the Sierra Nevada. I am exploring your website and am enjoying it. I am about 3 years younger than you, and also write poetry; graudated from UC Santa Barbara and eventually became a librarian for many years in Auburn, CA.
My question: since I live in the Sierras and know them well (indeed one of my daughters works for the Sierra Nevada Alliance)-- how did you come about writing haikus of the Sierra Nevada? It is indeed a range of light. I am intrigued.
